The No-Fail

I'm a girl and I know what I like and I like what I like, and when it comes to ethnic foods there's usually the ONE DISH that I know won't let me down. I then judge my entire experience of a restaurant based on the No-Fail Dish.

For example the pad thai. Yes, I'm a beginner at Thai food and I have seriously never tried anything but the pad thai. (I know that I need to branch out and try new things but the secret ingredient of ketchup is too hard to resist!) I haven't finished eating at all of the Thai places on Davie and Denman but so far the pad thai is okay at Thai Basil but better at Thai Away Home.

Second there's the been and cheese burrito. My ultimate Mexican meal. It has to be with re-fried beans, or a combo of re-fried and cooked black beans to make my top-ten list. As for the list it's terrible at Casablanca, okay at Andres, good at La Casita, and best at El Taco. Okay so technically La Casita doesn't count because it's on the corner of Cordova and Abbott but it's second best so it deserves it. I still have to venture out of my neighborhood and try the bean and cheese burrito at Taco Time and Taco Del Mar. I'm a nurse and believe me, you don't want to be my patient on a day that I've eaten Mexican. If I'm farty-Mcfartster I go into a room where the patient is sleeping/unconcious, or simply hard of hearing and smelly in general, and let 'em go.

Davie and Denman Eat-A-Thon

I have decided that while I am living in the west end I am going to eat at all of the restaurants on Davie and Denman. Since I'm here I might as well take advantage of the plethora of ethnic variety, as long as I don't gain 150 pounds and bust a jammer while walking up a short flight of stairs. I can tell you right now it's been hit or miss, and I'm pretty sure that I can blame that explosive diarrhea on that bad hot and sour soup. But I'm willing to try it all, even the man food at the Pumpjack. God help me.
